Pro basketball fans visiting the Target Center for a Minnesota Timberwolves game might have noticed signs in the arena declaring it an “Electromagnetic Radiation Free Zone.” According to Yahoo Finance, the arena partnered with Aires, a technology company that designs devices capable of transforming EMR fields so they’re less disruptive to the human body.

No Change in How Electronics Work

Despite the large signs, fans probably won’t notice the devices themselves. Everything in the arena, from its Jumbotron to the cell phones fans use, will continue to function as it always has. Unlike some gadgets intended to stop harmful electromagnetic radiation, the technology in use at Timberwolves games doesn’t affect how electronic devices work. Fans can still use their cellphones, and the arena Wi-Fi will work as it always has.

Clearer Thinking and Less Fatigue

But, some fans may notice feeling better while in the arena. The technology creates a healthier environment for everyone-players, arena staff, and fans. The NBA team believes so wholeheartedly in the health benefits of creating an EMF-free zone that it also installed EMF-transforming devices at the team’s practice facility at Mayo Clinic Square. Some research shows that long-term exposure to EMFs may exacerbate: • Difficulty concentrating • Fatigue • Headaches • Oxidative stress • Sleep issues. By transforming the EMFs into a state amenable to the human body, everyone in the Target Center experiences a healthy environment.

Fans don’t have to hang out in the arena to glean the EMF-transforming benefits. Once the basketball game ends, they can go home to the same peaceful, healthy environment. The company that makes the large-scale technology used at the Target Center produces a personal-sized device, too. It also manufactures a device that services an entire room. The availability of small-scale technology empowers fans to improve their health and well-being. Attending a game lets them experience what an area without harmful EMFs feels like. For those who feel and enjoy the difference, they can obtain the same technology on a reduced scale.

How Does It Affect the Players?

Currently, the Timberwolves sit at number six in the Western Conference, and third in the Northwest Division. According to CBS News, the team nabbed a berth in the NBA Finals for the fourth year in a row in 2025. MSN reports the Wolves took the first game of the Finals on April 19, 2025, besting the Los Angeles Lakers 117 to 95.

Anecdotally, there’s no adverse reaction to the changes to the arena, and the players have continued to improve in home-court games. Since the installation of the EMF-transforming tech, completed on February 19, 2025, the Timberwolves have lost only two of the 11 games played at the Target Center. The two losses were both close match-ups. On March 17, the Wolves lost to the Indiana Pacers in overtime, 130 to 132. Two days later, the New Orleans Pelicans defeated them at home in a 115 to 119 battle. Only time can tell how the Timberwolves’ addressing EMFs will affect their performance, but early indicators seem good.
